San Jose-Cassandra Harrison from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Allie Myers from Phoenix, Ariz., have signed National Letters-of-Intent to compete for the San Jose State women's gymnastics team beginning with the 2011 season, announced Spartan head coach Wayne Wright.

Harrison currently competes for the Capital City Gymnastics Club in Edmonton.   At the 2009 Canadian Championships National Open, she won the gold on floor, bronze on vault and a team gold as a member of Team Alberta.  In the two-day all-around competition, Harrison placed second on the first day and fifth on the second day.  At the 2009 Provincial Championships, she won gold on the beam and floor and bronze on the vault while placing fourth in the all-around.  Harrison began her competitive gymnastics career at Ortona Gymnastics and competed at her first Canadian Championships at age 12.

Myers competes for Desert Light Gymnastics in Chandler, Ariz.   A five-year Level 10 gymnast, she is a three-time Level 10 state champion on the vault including winning the title at the 2009 state meet.  Myers finished in the top-three in all four events and the all-around at the 2009 Arizona meet - 1st on vault, 2nd on beam floor and all-around and third on the bars.  In 2007, Myers was a Junior Olympic Alternate from Region 1.

"I am very excited that Cassandra and Allie are joining the Spartans women's gymnastics program," said Wright.  "They are very talented gymnasts and will have an immediate impact on our team.  Both have the opportunity to compete for spots in their first season."
