Provincial Championships 2010 - MAG - 61 Medals

Provincial Championships in St Albert was a great success for the competitive men at Capital City Gymnastics. We walked away with 4 Provincial Champions, and a grand total of 61 medals.

Congratulations to our Provincial Champions:

Kieran Fagan – High Performance Agro
Aiden Marsden – High Performance Tyro
Loic Fujinaga – High Performance Junior
Ben Gervais – National Open

We also had 12 men make it to National Championships:

Provincial Championships 2010 - WAG - 77 Medals

Provincial Championships was a huge success for the competitive girls at Capital City. We walked away with 4 Provincial Champions, the Provincial 5 team award, and a grand total of 77 metals.

Men's Competitive News 2009

The Men’s Competitive Program now has over 50 boys enrolled. We have 8 gymnasts who are National team members, 4 of which are carded athletes. These athletes are Brandon O’Neill, Jared Walls, Jackson Payne, Max Vacca, Bobby Kriangkum, Teagen Marsden, Kieran Fagan, and Sasha Semeniuk.
 
From July 30-August 11th, Jackson Payne and Max Vacca attended the National team training camp and mock meet with team England held in Calgary. From August 18-31st, Jackson Payne, Max Vacca and Bobby Kraingkum attended the National team training camp in Beijing China and had a mock meet with the Chinese National team. This September, Jackson Payne will be attending the International Junior competition in Japan. Brandon O’Neill and Jackson Payne will be attending the World Championships being held in London, England this October 12-19th. We wish them great success!
 
Congratulations to Kieran Fagan, newest National Age Group team member and to his coach Toshi. Congratulations as well to Teagen Marsden, new La Releve team member, and to his coach Yves. Teagen joins Bobby Kriangkum as a member of this team. Bobby and Teagen were the only boys from Alberta to make this team of 10 athletes, both from CCGC!

Women's Competitive News 2009

Last season, the Capital City Gymnastics Club’s Women’s Competitive Program was extremely successful and resulted in numerous individual and team awards. Samantha Ward and Paige Blaney were named High Performance JR at the 2008 Elite Canada where Paige won a silver medal on vault. Among our success were 9 medals at the 2009 Western Canadian Championships in Winnipeg. In addition, we had five Provincial Champions: Paige Blaney, Paige Romano, Riley Schilf, Haley Brannon and Sydney Iskiw. Capital City had 8 gymnasts attend the 2009 National Championships in Hamilton where Paige Blaney won a sliver medal on vault. Cassandra Harrison won a team gold medal as well as gold on the floor exercise and bronze on vault. Rochelle Bernier also won a team gold medal. Brielle Wilchuck won a bronze medal on the balance beam.

We have 11 gymnasts being honored with awards at this year’s AGF Awards Night. Paige Blaney, Rochelle Bernier, Cassandra Harrison, Samantha Ward, Riley Schilf, Brielle Wilchuck, Sydney Iskiw , Haley Brannon, Katrina Schirmaier, Samantha Gourley and Paige Romano.

Cassandra Harrison received a full scholarship starting in 2010 to San Jose State University. Congratulations Cass! Riley Schilf’s profile was featured in the July edition of GymJam magazine.

In the 2008-2009 season CCGC had 13 LEAP girls pass their copper pin and 6 pass their bronze pin. We hosted two LEAP events at our gym.

The Women’s Program now has 51 LEAP and Competitive athletes. The LEAP Program consists of 4 levels. The Canadian Provincial Program consists of 5 competitive levels. The National Program consists of National Novice and Open as well as High Performance Junior and Senior.

CCGC Men come home with 4 Provincial champions!

CCGC men had a great showing at this years Provincial Championships in Brooks, AB.

We had 26 athletes competing in numerous categories. The boys came home with 4 provincial champions and a total of 44 medals. These have been our best results yet.

Our provincial champions are: Ryan Edlund, Kieran Fagan, Bobby Kriangkum, and Alex Hoy

Congratulations to all the boys.

Provincials was also a trials to Nationals and we have qualified 13 boys to go:
